SHIMLA
Shimla one of the most favorite hill stations of North India, is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of around 7,000 feet, this beautiful hiil station is surrounded by high mountain peaks covered by oak and pine trees. Shimla has derived its name from Hindu Goddess, Shyamala mata. Astonished with the natural beauty of Shimla, British called it Queen of Hills. This was their Summer Capital in British Era, as the Climate of Shimla in summers is very pleasant. This city is renowned for its natural beauty, Colonial Buildings, variant Culture, Snowfall and Shimla-Kalka railways. The Shimla Kalka railways is an UNESCO world heritage Site, the journey is breathtaking with Train passing through dense pine and deodar forests, panoramic valleys, high mountains and 103 Tunnels.

The Mall 
This small stretch is the most popular shopping venue in Shimla. It is full of Shops, Showrooms, Restaurants of all kinds and cuisine, Bars and Pubs, Government offices, Hawkers, eateries etc. This is definitely the most crowded place in Shimla and is one of the favorites for evening spots. Early morning and evening is the best time to visit The Mall. In the evening, one gets a great view of lighted city and houses on surrounding hills.
The Ridge
This is another popular spot in Shimla City. It is an open and in the city centre. This is a good place to get a panaromic view of surrounding mountains.
Jakhu Temple
This is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and this templed is inhabited by lots of monkeys. Jakhu Temple is situated above the city of Shimla and can be reached both by a walk and by road. As the temple is situated above Shimla, you get a different view of the surrounding mountains, not seen from Shimla.
Himachal State Museum 
The state museum in Shima is in a British Era Building and has a wide and
large collection of various antiques, artifacts, Sculptures, paintings, books, photographs, etc. These collections had been collected from all over Himachal which took a long time. This is one of the most frequented places by tourists. Remains closed on Mondays.
Christ Church
This is a beautifully architectured Church with stained Glasses in the windows, Constructed in the year of 1857. This Church is one of the oldest Churches of India. The Church Building looks more impressive in the evening with lighting.
Viceregal Lodge
This is a magnificent British architecture Building atop the Observatory hills,
Surrounded by well maintained gardens, this adds up to the beauty of this Mansion. Once the summer house of The Viceroy, This beautiful building now houses the Institute of Advance Study. The entrance is open to the public only to certain areas.
Tara Devi Temple 
This another popular temple of Shimla is dedicated to The goddess of Stars. It is
situated around 15 Kms from Shimla and can be reached by road which runs uphill amongst the forest of deodar and pine trees. The view of surrounding snow top mountains from this high altitude temple is remarkable.
