CORBETT

Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest National Park of India. Established in 1936 in Nainital district of Uttarakhand to secure the survival of endangered, Bengal Tiger. The park came into existence due to never ending efforts of Jim Corbett, a conservationist. The park was named after him to honour his efforts. The park is spread out in a vast are of around 580 square Kms and comprises of hills, grasslands, marsh, mountain rivers, lakes and forest. Even though an established to protect Bengal Tiger, Corbett is a true ecotourism destination with wide variety flaura and fauna which comprises of around 55 species of mammals, 115 tree species, 570 species of bird and approximately 28 reptile species. A large amount of tourists and wildlife lovers visit Corbett. Primary attraction of Corbett National Park Being Tiger Sighting, Wildlife lover come here for Bird watching as well. To limit the interference in the ecology of the park, a small part of the the park is open to escorted visitors.
